5 consecutive steps to create a garden with your own hands

The article will focus on the main stages of creating a garden with your own hands

Advice on the implementation and sequence of the above steps is given.

To create a garden, you need to follow a certain algorithm - a sequence that will structure the whole process.

Actually, the structuredness in thoughts, behavior, actions, business, even at formation of the project of a garden, plays an important role. Nothing will work without it. At the initial stage, you will need the help of a specialist, and then everything is in your hands.

1. Forming a list of questions

You need to know the maximum amount of information about the plot, its owners.

For example, who lives in the house, how often it is used for living, how many cars will be in the yard at the same time, whether there are animals, allergic reactions of residents to plants, what functional areas (sites, barbecues, terraces) should be, what plants like, what color and so on.

Thus, the requirements to the garden are formed - the task on its designing is made.

2. We create the idea of the garden, its legend, theme

This is the most difficult and important step.

The idea is an invisible element to which everything in the garden will obey - the planning structure, functional zones, direction and size of paths, colour and texture of garden elements, plants (shape, colour, texture, habitus, smell, etc.) and the principle of their planting.

It seems that all this is difficult, but if you successfully go through this step, then consider that you have achieved 50% success.

How does it work?

It is necessary to find the idea for the garden project, which is inherent to its owners. It is better not to limit your flight of fancy.

Topics range from traveling and recreating the ideas of the world's most beloved corners in the garden to childhood, literary heroes, works of art, philosophical reflections, the transience of time, and so on.

The most relevant topics for today are the themes of the philosophical direction, which allow people to think about the eternal problems.

When a theme is chosen, it must be woven into everything that will be in the garden.

The other part of the garden is ennobled. The main time is spent here. There is a house, functional zones, flower beds.

Plants for this part should be harmoniously combined with each other, to be a single whole, as the love of the poet in the poem.

But no one has canceled the methods of design. Therefore, it is necessary to unite these parts of the garden with each other. This is achieved by using the same range of plants in two parts of the garden.

Lawns, paths, functional units (barbecue and swing space) are shaped like dynamic lines, which visually expands the small area.

The plants in the garden are selected in pastel color (during blossoming), - emphasize the idyll of love. Red color of bushes and flowers symbolizes love.

Every customer wants to have something special, unique - the idea / legend of the garden perfectly fulfills this role. The owner of such a plot will be proud of his garden and tell this legend to his guests.

3. Defining the functional areas

These are the areas of the garden that are designated for specific actions.

They are: entrance area, active recreation area with barbecue and / or terrace, playground, swimming pool, place for active games, secluded recreation, decorative garden, fruit garden, utility area.

In case of correct passing of the first stage (drawing up of the list of questions and answers) with definition of these zones there will be no questions.

It is necessary to make a note.

At this stage landscape designers have a dispute. Some people believe that the idea (theme) of the garden is the first and its functional importance is secondary. Others, on the contrary.

I believe that you need to stick to the middle. These two processes need to be combined and dealt with simultaneously.

Without any doubt, functionality is important, and what will be done first does not matter. The main thing is to remember the function of the individual zones and "subordinate" them to the idea of the garden (to give the appropriate size and shape, use the necessary plants, etc.).

Why, if everything is fine?

The reason for trimming fruit trees is to remove dried, close and dangerous branches. Trimming also aims to improve the penetration of sunlight into the crown, and for shrubs - to remove the brushwood and give a decorative shape. Shrubs have branches cut above the ground. Deciduous fruit trees are cut so that the shade does not interfere with each other. And to maintain the aesthetics of the site annually cut trees with a beautiful coloring of young shoots. In addition, experienced gardeners can always say that a cut tree can always produce a better and bigger harvest than a neglected one.

4. We develop a planning structure

In fact, it's a combination of the previous three steps. It is a compilation of functional zones and their connection to the road network.

It should be remembered that the sequence of this paragraph cannot be broken.

The paths are secondary elements of a garden that allow us to ergonomically combine functional zones. Some make mistakes and "fit" the functional areas under the tracks.

Of course, if the paving already exists and the garden is being renovated, these factors must be taken into account and adjusted to them. Ideally, the functional zones first, then the paths to them.

5. Makes a list of plants

Sadly enough, the choice of plants is subject to everything in the garden (the architecture of the house, the idea of the garden, its functions, etc.).

One should remember about the structural plants, their contrast, the repetitive elements of the garden.
