We have a relatively new type of housing such as a townhouse, but it quickly became popular. This is a great solution for those who want to live within the city, but in a private area, but not in a multi-storey building, to have their own house in the 2-3 floors, but not so expensive in construction and maintenance as a full-fledged mansion. Moreover, even his own plot is attached to it, just a dream!
But, as well as all the other, the townhouse, or rather the landscape that complements it, in addition to the advantages there are disadvantages. Perhaps the biggest of them is a tiny square. And since the owners, as a rule, see in their dreams near the house and garden, and a barbecue, and a pool with a tennis court, in fact, the design turns out to be overloaded, and the customer - disappointed. What to take into account and what to refuse from that did not happen?
Vegetation near the house is, in fact, the main moment for which I wanted to move to live in nature. Of course, you can develop a first-class futuristic interior design using metal, mahogany and concrete. But what about a nice morning coffee party on green grass or an afternoon reading on a lounge chair next to your favorite lilac bush? However, if you turn to a good landscape architect, you will be able to combine the design of the classic with modernity, and even the size of your garden, which barely reaches 2 hundredths of a hectare will not be a hindrance.
Captain Handy Landscape Designer will help you to make the landscaping of your home in Toronto at a high level!
This is another reason, which is quite common in this case: since the plot is small and the house is 2-3-storey, there is a high probability that it will shade the open area. The worst case is if the yard is also located on the northern side. In this case, you should choose shade-covered plants for design, and in addition, think about artificial lighting of the garden and add an open hearth for fire. Even if you don't want to sunbathe in such a garden, the evening gatherings in it will be as atmospheric and cozy as possible!
If the land plot adjacent to the townhouse has an area larger than the standard 2-3 weaves, then it is a narrow stretched strip of land, because the width of the house (and the plot - respectively - remains the same in any case). In this case, it is better to give preference to the "cubic" design, that is, to divide the area into equal, more or less square zones. Improvised screens, retaining walls, etc. may be useful here. You can also make the area multilevel. But what you shouldn't do is to equip the entire length of the section with symmetrical bushes or pull it out even more visually with the help of a long rectangular pond.
As a rule, the house on the plot is located approximately in the middle. That is, there is a small area in front of the entrance - the so-called "entrance zone" and the courtyard, located behind the house and fenced off from the three remaining sides of the fence, that is, in fact, hidden from the eyes of strangers. So far, we have mostly discussed the backyard. As for the area in front of the house, it is best to organize a flat lawn. Such a stylish solution of the landscape will not distract attention from the house itself - already at the entrance to the gate. Besides, the tenants themselves will not be too big and active plants to close the view to the street. At the same time, the backyard can be literally "drowned" in the greenery, casing tall plants around the perimeter, which will create an additional living screen from neighbors.

The smaller the area, the more important each centimetre is. On this basis, the plot of land near the townhouse should be carefully planned from the very doorstep to the fence. A common mistake made by those who do not turn to the designer is the empty transition zone between the house and garden. At best, there may be a summer veranda that is empty for more than half a year. Meanwhile, with a competent design sometimes it is not even clear where the house ends and the garden begins - so they are integrated into each other. Good examples can be seen, looking through the interiors and exteriors of English, Spanish, Italian private houses and townhouses - they are often accompanied by tiny, but very cozy and multifunctional.
